Trans Wellness Initiative to Provide Valuable Resources to Trans and Non-binary People in Alberta

In order to better improve the health and wellness of Alberta’s trans and gender-diverse community, CBRC has launched the Trans Wellness Initiative (TWI). By uniting community members, community-based organizations, and healthcare providers, the TWI will work to increase access to healthcare services, build connections within the community, and foster capacity for self-advocacy.

Taking the form of a website, the TWI provides trans and gender-diverse people with information and resources about important topics—such as sexual and mental health, navigating pathways to surgery, and social and legal transition. It is also a place where healthcare providers can learn more about providing competent and affirming care for trans and gender-diverse communities.

As an extension of the TWI, the Introduction to Affirming Spaces Training has also been created. It is a series of three-course modules for healthcare providers that offer insight into fostering affirming healthcare practices that better serve trans and gender-diverse patients in Alberta.

Visit the TWI website for more information.
