This year’s theme is “Access,” a concept that is crucial for Two-Spirit and Indigenous queer and trans individuals who continue to face significant health disparities rooted in systemic racism, transphobia, homophobia, and discrimination. Our Two-Spirit relatives deserve equitable access to healthcare, culture, and ceremony—resources often denied due to colonial systems and their legacies. Additionally, Two-Spirit people must have access to Gender-Based Violence resources, a critical issue that disproportionately impacts our people and one in which we are often excluded from in discussions—both within and outside of Indigenous spaces. This year’s celebration emphasizes that access is key to creating pathways for essential resources, meaningful engagement, and greater inclusion for all members of our community.
