Care in Action: HIV Prevention is an Indigenous-led introduction to HIV prevention for service providers. As service providers, we have a responsibility to reduce harms, barriers, and provide solutions to those accessing our resources. Having a strong sense of who we are serving within the community allows us to introduce knowledge around prevention into our work and provide tools for self-advocacy. Care in Action: HIV Prevention challenges the stigmas and misconceptions impacting Indigenous people with regards to HIV transmission, testing, treatment, and care.
Attention is given to responses and strategies within the province of Manitoba, informed by the Manitoba HIV Program’s Calls to Action. These recommendations serve as a useful guide in improving HIV prevention in communities across the country. Methods explored include PreP, PEP, HIV self-testing, treatment as prevention, and more.
