Queering the Compass: Pathways to 2S/LGBTQIA+ Sexual & Reproductive Health
CBRC invites you to learn online with us for FREE! If you are a healthcare or service provider, healthcare student, or a 2S/LGBTQIA+ community member who is passionate about improving your knowledge and capacity to better serve 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities, then check out the new online learning series from CBRC’s Queering the Compass: Pathways to 2S/LGBTQIA+ Sexual & Reproductive Health project. Queering the Compass promotes the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) of 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities by enhancing the knowledge and skills of 2S/LGBTQIA+ people and providers who serve them to more effectively navigate 2S/LGBTQIA+ SRH needs and care.
The online learning series currently consists of two asynchronous modules that address gaps in health services and empower providers to offer more inclusive care. They are:
- Confronting Ableism, Stigma, and Bias in Sexual and Reproductive Health Care
- Intersectional Affirming Care
Upon enrollment, you can complete both modules at your own pace. Once completed, you can earn up to 6 certified Mainpro+® credits!
Course Descriptions
This course addresses key service provision pitfalls and challenges by centering discussions of ableism, stigma and bias, highlighting different embodied experiences at the intersection of queerness and sexual and reproductive health care.
Intersectional Affirming Care explores affirming care as a central principle of service provision and practice. This course focuses on preparing and empowering service providers with the practical skills and knowledge needed to effectively deliver services to 2S/LGBTQIA+ community members.
Care in Action
Care in Action is a two-part series for service providers on providing information on HIV prevention and HPV Awareness in Indigenous communities. Guided by lived experience, Care in Action is an Indigenous-led resource created by the Two-Spirit Program at CBRC to initiate conversations, reduce stigma, and access resources for folks wanting to be proactive in their sexual health care.
Course Descriptions
This course is an Indigenous-led resource for service providers. The human-papilloma virus (HPV) can be very tricky to talk about. Although it is one of the most prominent sexually-transmitted infections, a lot of people still do not have the knowledge or awareness to implement choices that may improve their sexual health in the long-term.
This course is an Indigenous-led introduction to HIV prevention for service providers. As service providers, we have a responsibility to reduce harms, barriers, and provide solutions to those accessing our resources.
