As 2S/LGBTQ+ people, our experience of stigma and discrimination is shaped not just by our sexuality and gender identity, but by our race, class, ability, and other aspects of who we are. Homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia intersect with other forms of oppression, like racism, classism, and ableism in ways that profoundly impact our mental health.
To support 2S/LGBTQ+ mental health, it’s crucial for services to acknowledge and address these intersecting forms of oppression. This can include different ways of meeting clients, offering care, and measuring success as a service or clinic.
