(Un)Covered: Episode 8 - Sexual Health Advocacy and Activism

In March 2020, CBRC partnered with Quadrangle NL and the AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador to deliver Pivot in St. John’s. This leadership program is focused on building capacity in 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to address systemic health inequities.

Pivot participants created “(Un)Covered: Sex at the Kitchen Table” - a series of webinars to talk about personal experience, knowledge, and the impact of 2SLGBTQIA+ exclusion from sexual health education programs and healthcare.

Episode 8: Sexual Health Advocacy and Activism, was recorded on Mar 20th, 2021

During the episode panelists discuss how sexual health has been one of the most important motives of 2SLGBTQIA+ activism for a long time, since bar raids and the AIDS epidemic. What differences have been made, how has healthcare changed, and what does the future look like for us. The panel included Kimberly Offspring (she/her), Pepper (she/they) and Ophelia Ravencroft (she/they). With land acknowledgement by Isabella Lacey (she/her) and moderated by Pivot graduate Jennifer Snow (She/They).
