10 Recommendations for Future Organizations & Community Leaders Planning to Distribute HIV Self-Testing Kits

Since 2020, HIV self-testing (HIVST) kits have been available to Canadians through various distribution programs. In 2023, the Public Health Agency of Canada provided $8M in funding for one year to support community-based distribution to key populations impacted by HIV.

Through partnerships with community-based organizations, film screenings, pop-up dance parties,Two-Spirit Gatherings, Pride Festivals, mailing kits directly to community members, and more, CBRC has employed a diverse array of approaches to offering HIVST kits to 2S/LGBTQIA+ people across so-called Canada for the past 4 years. Here we offer 10 recommendations for future organizations and community leaders who are interested in offering HIVST kits to the communities they serve.
