Apply for a $1,000 Black Queer Symposium scholarship

CBRC is offering five $1,000 scholarships for Black 2S/LGBTQIA+ (Two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual/agender/aromantic, and other sexual and gender diverse) trainees and community-based staff to attend the first Black Queer Symposium in Toronto on October 29, 2026.

The Symposium will bring together Black 2S/LGBTQ+ scholars, artists, and leaders from across Canada to share knowledge, strengthen relationships, and identify priorities for future work in the community.

Awards include one undergraduate, two master’s-level, and two doctoral-level scholarships.

Applicants will submit a CV in any format and a brief written, audio, or video response describing their work in Black queer spaces and/or their interest in future work with Black queer communities. All applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will be entered into a category-specific random draw.
