Blood Donation Policy Changes: Rosemary Barton interviews CBRC Executive Director

“It’s true that the policy does discriminate and needs to be improved, but the good news is that we can push for improvements to this policy from a gender neutral and behaviour-based perspective. It’s important for folks to know that the behaviour-based screening element to these chances has always been an important part of the advocacy… We recognize that safety is still a paramount concern. While it is really exciting that as a result of this policy change that more folks in our communities will be able donate and contribute to address the need that exists, we do still have to push for them to better to align and reflect advances in science and technology.” - Michael Kwag, CBRC’s Acting Executive Director
