On February 6, 2026, CBRC hosted a private screening of our new 25th anniversary documentary, joined by the people who have made our work possible over the past several years, including current and former board members, staff, and program participants. It was a special opportunity for those who were so instrumental to CBRC's early development and continued success watch the film together before its online release.

By Us, For Us: 25 Years of Community-Based Research in Action was screened at the VIFF Centre's Lochmaddy Studio Theatre in Vancouver. In attendance were CBRC’s founders Rick Marchand and Terry Trussler, along with former executive director Jody Jollimore and former research director Dr. Nathan Lachowsky. The reunion also offered a special chance to honour Dr. Lachowsky, who left CBRC last summer. Associate Director of Research Ben Klassen and Director of Two-Spirit Health Jessy Dame shared poignant memories of working with him, with Dame presented him with a hand-carved Thunderbird mask created by Coast Salish artist Artie George.

CBRC Executive Director Michael Kwag also spoke from the heart about what the organization means to him, reflecting on his personal journey from first joining the Investigaytors program as a young person to now leading the organization’s many programs. The event was followed by a small reception, giving everyone a chance to catch up and reconnect.

The film will be released on CBRC’s website on February 24.
