CBRC is proud to announce that we have been awarded $1.2 million in funding from the Department of Women and Gender Equality (Government of Canada) to support our We Lead project, focused on advancing equal access to sexual, reproductive, and gender affirming (SRGA) care for 2S/LGBTQIA+ people in Canada.
This multi-year project, which will conclude in March 2027, uses a community incubator approach — 2S/LGBTQIA+ community members will not only be recipients of the project activities, but will collaborate with healthcare and service providers to design their community-led health responses.
We Lead will advance equal access to SRGA care for 2S/LGBTQIA+ people by enhancing the capacity of:
- service providers, to offer culturally competent and safe SRGA care, and
- 2S/LGBTQIA+ community members, to navigate SRGA health systems.
We Lead is a collaborative project between CBRC and our three regional partners, Chroma (New Brunswick), Queer and Trans Health Collective (Alberta), and Les 3 Sex (Quebec).
Together, we will work to improve access to SRGA healthcare for 2S/LGBTQIA+ people by addressing gaps in provider skills, discrimination in healthcare, and complex access pathways. We will develop and deliver workshops and resources to support both providers and community members, and share our learnings and best practices to support further adaptation and scaling.
