Current guidelines and practices for organ and tissue donation and transplantation (OTDT) in Canada discriminate against 2S/GBTQ+ people and perpetuate false assumptions about 2S/GBTQ+ sexual identity and HIV risk. We call on Health Canada to re-evaluate their eligibility criteria in line with current evidence for HIV exposure and transmission, and consult with trans and gender diverse communities to better understand and address the inequities that they face in the OTDT system.
