MindMapBC Launches to Provide Affordable and Accessible Mental Health Services in Lower Mainland, BC

Finding a trusted mental health service provider isn’t easy. This is why CBRC—in collaboration with the Health Initiative for Men, and Simon Fraser University—has launched MindMapBC, an online database of affordable, accessible and LGBTQ2s+ affirming mental health services in Lower Mainland, BC.

Motivated by research that showed high rates of mental health concerns among sexual health clinic clients in Greater Vancouver, MindMapBC is a custom-made database that lists a number of organizations that offer outpatient mental health services, including professional counseling, peer counseling, and support groups. The site also lists important resources for those in crisis, with clear links to emergency numbers and services.

Those looking to find the right match can filter their search for organizations that specialize in LGBTQ2S+ health, or offer services that are free, low-cost, or on a sliding scale. People can also search for online services, so that those living in remote regions, or who are sheltering in place during the pandemic, can gain access via remote platforms.

The public are also invited to add new organizations to the list. All submissions will be reviewed for accuracy before being added to the database.

For those who are interested in helping us spread the word through social media channels, websites, or newsletters, please visit our social media toolkit.
