Rob Higgins, Research Manager for Sex Now Survey at Community-Based Research Centre for Gay Men's Health, sits down with Canadian Blood Services' Chief Scientist Dr. Dana Devine to discuss one of Canada's most contentious blood donor restrictions. As many members of our community are aware, there is a policy in place which prevents blood donation by man who has had sex with men in the past 12 months, meaning most gay, bi, and other men who have sex with men not eligible to donate blood. We strongly believe this policy is discriminatory and not reflective of current science. This years Sex Now Survey will seek to provide evidence that this de facto ban can be changed and blood donation can be made more inclusive.
