Did you know a group of flamingos is called a flamboyance? Writer and organizer Theodore (ted) Kerr suggests a flamboyance can also be understood as a community of caring and active 2S/LGBTQIA+ people, who seek to collectively understand and respond to community needs. In this engaging and informative keynote, Kerr will draw upon the Flamboyance workshop he created for CBRC to consider how, in this moment of collective threats, Flamboyance in action is needed. Kerr will highlight contemporary and historical examples from Canadian and US communities responding to HIV, while also inviting participants to think of how Flamboyance as vigilance can and could work in their communities.
