It’s easy to imagine that the law isn’t a big deal when fighting for trans people, but it always has been. From class actions for trans healthcare in the early 1980s to modern-day battles against anti-trans legislation in 2024, the judicial system has both served as a tool of emancipation for the oppressed, but also as a means used by anti-trans actors to crush community resilience. Celeste Trianon will be discussing the role the law has played both historically and nowadays in the battle for trans rights, and how we can all unite—even in a potential post-Charter world—for justice for all.
