With such a wide range of important and timely topics at Summit, we understand that some of the content and discussions may be challenging or emotionally difficult. We encourage any participant in need of emotional and/or mental health support to access one of the counsellors that CBRC has partnered with.
Mental Health Support staff from Health Initiative for Men (HIM) and RÉZO will be present at the Summit to offer low-barrier emotional and/or mental health support if folks are feeling activated by the content.
Services are available in English (via HIM counsellors) and in French (via RÉZO counsellors). Please note that this is not a 50-minute counselling session. The aim of this support is to provide attendees with informal and rapid counselling, active listening, or peer support so that attendees feeling distressed or upset have someone that they can speak to in a safe and confidential way.
To access Mental Health Support please text 250-507-9141, and a HIM staff member will connect you to a counsellor. Please state in your text if you have a preference, and we will try our best to match your request (for example, English or French-speaking, masc or femme-presenting counsellors or gender-diverse folks and racialized counsellors). Upon texting, the Staff will guide you to the location where you and the Mental Health Support staff can connect.
Please note that Mental Health Support staff are available on all Summit days: November 20 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, and November 21 and November 22, from 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Please note that the support being made available to attendees does not necessarily constitute a formal, documented, professional counselling service. The aim of this support is to provide attendees with informal and rapid counselling, active listening, or peer support so that attendees feeling distressed or upset have someone that they can speak to in a safe and confidential way.
