(Un)Covered: Episode 1 - (Queering) Sexual Health Education

In March 2020, CBRC partnered with Quadrangle NL and the AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador to deliver Pivot in St. John’s. This leadership program is focused on building capacity in 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to address systemic health inequities.

Pivot participants created “(Un)Covered: Sex at the Kitchen Table” - a series of webinars to talk about personal experience, knowledge, and the impact of 2SLGBTQIA+ exclusion from sexual health education programs and healthcare.

Episode 1, (Queering) Sexual Health Education, was recorded on October 3, 2020.

In this episode, our panel discusses how sexual health education, primarily in public schools, has failed to address 2SLGBTQIA+ issues. The panel included Denise Cole (she/her), Elliot Chapple (he/him), Emmy Everson (she/her), and Charlie Murphy (he/they) and was moderated by Pivot graduate Jennifer Snow (she/they). With land acknowledgment by Denise Cole (she/her).
