Welcoming new CBRC Board members, Asya Gunduz as Chair

Following a search for new Board members in late 2025, CBRC is proud to welcome the newest members of our Board:

  • Devaiya Corbett
  • Elody Croullebois
  • Hannah Crouse
  • Debra Kriger
  • Jamiey Kelly
  • Quinta Seon
  • Mac Stewart

They join our existing Board members: Lucas Corbin, Asya Gunduz, and JJ Wright, bringing a wealth of expertise across research, public health, communications, and more, as we work together to implement our latest strategic plan, Strategy 2030.

New Board executive

Our new board executive now consists of Jamiey Kelly (Vice-Chair), Hannah Crouse (Treasurer), and Devaiya Corbett (Secretary), with Asya Gunduz stepping into the role of Board Chair.

“Taking on the role of CBRC Board Chair is deeply meaningful to me,” says Gunduz. “As a trans woman, immigrant, previous service user, community organizer, researcher, and HIV-sector leader, I bring a strong commitment to community-led change. I look forward to helping CBRC strengthen its accountability, inclusion, and impact while ensuring lived experience meaningfully shapes leadership and decision-making. I would like to thank our previous chair Christopher Gallardo-Ganaban for his longtime support and guidance.”

Fond farewells

After eight years on CBRC’s Board and as Board Chair, Christopher Gallardo-Ganaban has stepped down. Gallardo-Ganaban supported the organization through many important initiatives during his tenure. Under his leadership, we launched Strategy 2030, released our 25th anniversary documentary, and took Summit outside of Vancouver for the first time. We are deeply grateful for his dedication and commitment to CBRC throughout his time as Chair.

In addition to the departure of Christopher Gallardo-Ganaban, longtime Board members Dr. Todd Sakakibara and Andrew Barker are also stepping down. With their involvement in CBRC spanning over 20 years, Sakakibara and Barker were part of the core group of gay men in Vancouver who worked tirelessly to turn CBRC’s vision into a reality. Their contributions were especially significant during our early years, when the organization operated without the level of funding and support it has today. We thank them for their years of service to CBRC and to the 2S/LGBTQIA+ health sector at large.
