Do You Mind? Safer Dating for 2S/LGBTQIA+ Youth

Do You Mind? Safer Dating for 2S/LGBTQIA+ Youth (2025-2028)

This three-year initiative prevents dating violence among sexually- and gender-diverse youth ages 18–29 through a multilevel, community-driven approach. Recognizing that 2S/LGBTQIA+ youth face unique risks and barriers — including homophobia, transphobia, and a lack of safe, affirming spaces — this project brings together youth, community organizations, and allied professionals to address youth dating violence (YDV) holistically and collaboratively.

By integrating proven interventions, supporting local leadership, and rigorously evaluating each step, the project aspires to not only equip 2S/LGBTQIA+ youth with the knowledge and skills for healthier relationships, but also to build a foundation of evidence-based practices that can be applied across Canada.

This project is being implemented from 2025–2028 by CBRC with funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), and in partnership with the Halifax Sexual Health Centre (Nova Scotia), HIM (interior BC), Les 3 sex* (Montreal), Sexuality Education Resource Centre (Brandon, Manitoba) and Wisdom to Action. The project is also guided by a Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) and a Partner Advisory Committee (PAC), each made up of members from across the country.
