Community-Based Research Centre (CBRC) promotes the health of people of diverse sexualities and genders through research and intervention development. CBRC was incorporated in 1999 and is a non-profit charitable organization. Our main office is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, and we also have satellite offices located in Edmonton, Toronto, and Halifax.

Description

As part of CBRC’s programming team, the Project Coordinator will work with other CBRC departments (i.e. research, communications) and a network of partners across the country to coordinate the development and implementation of a range of 2SLGBTQ+ community and stakeholder-facing capacity building products and activities. Examples of work the coordination will undertake includes project monitoring (i.e. project tracking), coordination (i.e. scheduling meetings), and financial administration (i.e. budget tracking).

As part of CBRC's programming team, the education team will work closely with a range of CBRC departments, including our research team, communications team, and evaluation team. While this position is considered permanent, please note that the continuity of this role is contingent on sustainable funding. Currently, this role is funded for two years.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Project Monitoring (35%)

  • Helping develop internal project processes
  • Supporting the development of project implementation plans
  • Tracking project implementation progress and informing project staff and partners on status of project objectives
  • Keeping project progress up-to-date in project management software (i.e. Asana)

Coordination (40%)

  • Scheduling internal project meetings with CBRC staff and partners
  • Scheduling external project meetings with advisory committees
  • Facilitating project meetings and taking meeting notes
  • Procuring and liaising with project contractors and vendors

Finance (25%)

  • Helping develop project budgets
  • Communicating budget information to CBRC staff and project stakeholders
  • Collecting and submitting internal and partner-incurred project expenses
  • Budget tracking and support with financial reporting

Education

At CBRC, we recognize the value of a variety of educational experiences, including but not limited to academic, career-based, and personal learnings. No one’s application will be ignored due to having not met a formal educational threshold. However, an undergraduate degree/diploma in one of the following areas would be an asset:

  • Project Management
  • Business
  • Non-profit Management
  • Other relevant area
  • Or equivalent experience, with one year of experience equaling one year of education

Core Competencies (critical to succeed in this role)

A minimum of 2 years of project coordination experience, including:

  • scheduling
  • partnership management
  • project monitoring
  • budgeting

Other Competencies & Qualifications (assets)

  • Understanding of 2SLGBTQ+ health, including sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and substance use
  • Understanding of key health concepts influencing the health and wellbeing of 2SLGBTQ+ populations is an asset, including stigma and discrimination (racism, transphobia), minority stress, intersectionality, upstream determinants of health, risk and protective factors, and resilience.
  • Proficiency with project management software (i.e. Asana)
  • Proficiency with common meeting and collaboration tools (i.e. Google Drive, Google Calendar, Doodle, Zoom, DropBox)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Proficiency with accounting software (i.e. Dext, Approval Max, Quickbooks) is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills in English; French language capacity is an asset
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Autonomous worker with the ability to adapt and work within a team setting
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with partners from varying sectors including academic, government and community agencies
