Description

The Stakeholder Education Development Specialist leads the development of a range of 2SLGBTQ+ health education products in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and substance use. Examples of education products to be developed include online training modules for healthcare providers, policy briefs, practice guides, and more. These education products will be delivered nationally through CBRC's broad network of partners to key stakeholder audiences (i.e. healthcare providers, policymakers, community-based organization staff) across the country. Collectively, this work will help enhance the health and well-being of 2SLGBTQ+ communities and help to fill key provider competency gaps to improve health service access and cultural safety.

A part of CBRC's programming team, the education team will work closely with a range of CBRC departments, including our research team, communications team, and evaluation team. While this position is considered permanent, please note that the continuity of this role is contingent on sustainable funding. Currently, this role is funded for two years.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Support development of education products, including online training modules, stakeholder education workshops, and other education products, including (80%):

Consulting with partners to determine key stakeholder competency gaps in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and substance use
Scanning and summarizing existing relevant literature and resources to support education product development
Leading the development of stakeholder education products from inception through to delivery
Provide direction and support to CBRC staff and partners who will be delivering education products to target audiences
Work with other CBRC teams (i.e. communications) and contractors (i.e. graphic designers) to ensure products are completed and ready to public consumption

Project administration (20%):

Participate in internal team meetings with other CBRC departments and partners to plan and monitor project implementation (collaboration)
Ensure community education products are completed in a timely manner, at a sufficient quality, and within budget constraints (project coordination)

Core Competencies (critical to succeed in this role)

A minimum of 2 years leading the development of high-quality community education products (i.e. healthcare provider training sessions, online professional development modules, practice guides, policy briefs)
Basic knowledge of 2SLGBTQ+ health, especially in the areas of sexual and reproductive health
Excellent writing skills (in English); French language capacity is an asset

Other Competencies & Qualifications (assets)

Experience developing online modules for asynchronous learning using learning management systems (i.e. Teachable, Coursera)
Experience collaborating with a diverse network of community members and stakeholders
Experience adapting education products and activities for different geographic locations and audiences
Experience developing and delivering education products and activities for continuous professional learning with key target audiences (i.e. healthcare providers)
Research, needs assessment, and interpretation of data
Understanding of key adult learning theories and principles
Understanding of and experience leading the development of education products rooted in interactivity and experiential learning
Understanding of key health concepts influencing the health and wellbeing of 2SLGBTQ+ populations, including stigma and discrimination (racism, transphobia), minority stress, intersectionality, upstream determinants of health, risk and protective factors, and resilience.
Excellent communication skills (reading and writing); public speaking skills are an asset
Autonomous worker with an ability to adapt and work within a team setting
Ability to interact professionally and effectively with partners from varying sectors including academic, government and community agencies
Effective critical analysis and problem-solving skills
